About Course

In this class, we will be looking at the basics of French speaking.

We will look at the days of the week, months, numbers, colours, various verbs and sentence structures.  Students will learn a variety of vocabulary through different themes such as ‘fruit’, ‘school’, ‘family’, ‘house’, ‘seasons’.  

Course Content

Lesson 1
Today we looked at greetings, number 0-5, colours and fruit. We also formed simple sentences with the fruits and colours.

Lesson 2
Today we reviewed our greetings, number 0-5, colours and fruit. We also looked at the days of the week and some classroom vocabulary like: les mots, l'enseignant, le tableau and la classe.

Lesson 3
Today we continued with our greetings, days of the week, and numbers 1-10. We also looked at the words 'Il y a' (there is/there are) in sentences using the vocabulary from last week.

Lesson 4
Today we continued with the days of the week. We looked at: aujourd'hui c'est (today is), hier/avant hier c'était (yesterday/the day before yesterday was), demain/après demain ça sera (tomorrow/after tomorrow will be). We reviewed numbers 1-10 and some vocabulary from last week. Our new words this week was the clothing vocabulary: un pantalon (pants), une chemise (a button up shirt), une robe (a dress), une jupe (a skirt), un jean (jeans), des chaussettes (socks). We practised sentences like 'Il y a trois robes jaunes.' (There are 3 yellow dresses).

Lesson 5
Today we continued with the days of the week and asking questions around which day it is/it was and it will be in French. We reviewed the numbers #0-10 and the clothing items from last week. We looked at new clothing items such as: des chaussures (shoes), un tee-shirt (a t-shirt), une ceinture (a belt), une veste (a jacket), une écharpe (a scarf) and une casquette (a ball cap). We also looked at different family members in French such as: ma maman (my mom), mon papa (my dad), mon frère (my brother), ma soeur (my sister), mon ami(e) (my friend). We created sentences with the verb: porter (to wear) using the different people. We started with 'je porte' (i wear) and then chose other family members (ma maman porte). We created sentences like: Je porte une robe jaune et des chaussures noires. Mon papa porte une ceinture bleue et un pantalon vert.
