Week 9 – Summarizing a Reference with Clear Structure

This week, students will shift from story retellings to summarizing a nonfiction source. They will create a key word outline and write a two-paragraph report based on the text. A new stylistic technique will be introduced, and students will learn how to apply the topic clincher rule to create strong paragraph endings that clearly connect back to the main idea. They’ll continue using proper formatting and titles in their work.
