Reading, Writing, and Critical Thinking through Powerful Literature

This self-guided program is designed for students in Grades 7–9 who are ready to explore deeper themes, sharpen their literary analysis, and strengthen their writing. Each novel is chosen for its literary quality, age-appropriate complexity, and thought-provoking content.

Through guided reading and writing, students will examine topics like identity, power, justice, and society. Each lesson includes comprehension questions, a focused writing task, and a final short essay to help students consolidate their understanding of key ideas.

✍️ How It Works

  • Students complete independent reading assignments broken into weekly sections

  • After each reading, they complete comprehension work and a writing task

  • Each novel concludes with a final short essay focused on a key idea, theme, or character journey
