Wonders of Science Writing Course
For students in grades 6 to 8
Also ideal for strong readers in grades 4 and 5
This 30-week writing course builds writing skills through the study of science. Students will explore topics such as volcanoes, electricity, inventors like Thomas Edison and the Wright brothers, animal adaptations, the solar system, and the scientific method while learning to write organized, stylistic, and content-rich compositions.
Using Wonders of Science Writing Lessons from the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW), students are guided through summaries, reports, and critiques while practicing IEW’s nine structural models.
What makes this class different:
Ms. Justyna adds expanded scientific context and engaging explanations to each lesson, helping students understand the “why” behind the facts and connect writing skills to meaningful scientific ideas.
