About Course
Canadian History Writing Course
For students in grades 6 to 8
Also ideal for strong readers in grades 4 and 5
This 30-week writing course strengthens writing skills through the exploration of Canadian history. Students will study Indigenous peoples, early explorers, Confederation, key battles, notable Canadians, and modern Canadian achievements all while learning to write clearly and confidently using IEW’s structure and style methods.
Using Canadian History-Based Writing Lessons from the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW), students will complete structured writing assignments including summaries, reports, and critiques.
What makes this class different:
Ms. Justyna enriches each lesson with additional historical background, helping students understand not just what happened in Canada’s past, but why it matters. The result is writing that is meaningful, informed, and well-structured.
