About Course

Writing Source G3- Mon. 7:30-8:30am (Sep. 08, 2025)

This course will help students become confident, clear, and creative writers. Each grade level has a colorful handbook that students use all year long. I will work step by step through the writing process—planning, drafting, revising, editing, and sharing students’ work.

The program includes:

  • Writing lessons on different types of writing, such as personal stories, persuasive essays, research reports, and creative writing.

  • The writing process (prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing) explained in a simple, practical way.

  • Language skills like grammar, usage, mechanics, and spelling, taught in the context of actual writing.

  • Models and examples of good student writing, so learners can see what strong writing looks like.

  • Tools for improvement, including checklists, rubrics, and graphic organizers.

The goal of my course is to make writing less intimidating and more engaging. To help students grow as writers by providing them with strategies they can use across all subjects, not just in English class.

Lesson 1 The Writing Process
Lesson 1: Why We Write In the first lesson, students learn that writing is a way to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas with others. They discover that people write for many reasons— to tell stories, explain something, give directions, or share what they know. We will: Explore different kinds of writing (stories, letters, reports, poems). See examples of student writing. Talk about who might read their writing (friends, family, teachers). Begin to understand that writing has a purpose and an audience. This lesson sets the stage for the year by helping children see writing as a tool for communication, not just a school assignment.
